It includes the tour in Barreal streets, where we see sidewalks with lined green willows and poplars, while we hear the sound of water flowing through the ditches. In spring we see the flowering and in summer, under the trees, we find shelter from the intense sun of midday. The route is adorned with adobe houses with galleries and vines at the courtyards, old carriages, clay ovens, and, sometimes, a weaver's loom.

Barreal is cradle of master craftsmen. We start the tour visiting organic farms, where we enjoy typical products offered to the public and learn about its development. We continue our tour visiting traditional artisans working in their homes with their looms, producing great fabrics, scarves and shawls with beautiful color combinations. The tour ends at the house of handicrafts, where we can find angels figurines, homemade jams and preserves.

Barreal westward, entering the gorge of the former estate of Los Arroyitos, we can see cave paintings in the rock, petroglyphs of Ansilta civilization, predating the Inca culture, that holds great enigmas of archeology in Argentina. Ansilta civilization inhabit our territory for over 2000 years, the longest period spent by pre-Columbian peoples known to the present. In the area we can find the remains of a colonial cemetery.

The tour takes place on trails in the foothills, where we enjoyed a beautiful view of the central mountains and the valley of Barreal. On the way we see typical forest plant species such as creosote bush, gobbles and gorse. We also find traces of ancient mining activity in the area.
We end the tour tasting regional products in a natural environment.

The route develops by the eastern bank of River Los Patos, the main tributary of the river San Juan. The large amount of water and rich river fauna, make this an excellent place to practice activities such as river rafting, kayaking, etc. and for sport fishing and bird watching.
If we make the stroll at evening, we see one of the best sunsets that San Juan and our mountains can provide us.
